Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI)

‚ÄčNonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) focuses on prevention by helping deescalate the situation through recognizing the early stages. During the training participants will be presented with skills and will have time in class to practice together. During the training participants will learn how to:‚Äč

  • Recognize behaviour that may be the beginning of a crisis
  • Respond to different behaviour to deescalate a situation
  • Use verbal and nonverbal communication to resolve a crisis before the situation becomes violent
  • Cope with own fears and anxieties
  • Find the appropriate time to physically intervene
  • Use the progression of a holding technique to help handle aggressive behaviour in the least restrictive and safest approach
  • Properly document the incident
